These oak barrels are highly sought after for reuse by the UK whisky industry.
The Asheville Crowne Plaza Resort is happily under contract to be the venue for the "2018 Reunion at the Cradle," after much deliberation and hard work by the Executive team. How did we arrive at the final decision? We had great support from the Asheville Visitor and Convention staff, Shawn Boone who helped Sid Haggard identify three properties that would be capable of accommodating conference space for 500+ Reunion participants and over 200 guest rooms for the Reunion week. These three hotels included The Grove Park Inn, the Marriott Renaissance hotel and the Crowne Plaza Resort.
The truly unique historical setting of The Grove Park Inn and the convenient downtown location of the Renaissance hotel were both very appealing and seriously considered. In the end, the Crowne Plaza was able to put together the most competitive and affordable package. We will be able to offer Retirees lodging rates similar to the 2012 Vail and 2015 Albuquerque Reunions. The nightly lodging rate will be $119 for double beds, and $139 for a king bed (for as long as they are available). Our 2018 Reunion coincides with the high season for Fall Colors in the Southern Appalachians. Most other Asheville hotel rates during September and October Fall Colors are almost $200 per night, so this is a very good rate.
Hotel Reservations for the Crowne Plaza will be open to Reunion participants at 50 weeks out from the event, due to Crown Plaza hotel reservation system. The soonest you will be able to make your reservation will be October 2017 (10 months from now). However, once the reservation system opens, we encourage you to not delay, due to the limited rooms and the very good room rate.
